Oeko-Tex®: Confidence Where It Matters Most.

Why we choose Oeko-Tex® certified fabrics & why traveller™ has it.

Why Oeko-Tex® Matters & why traveller™ travel cot has it
When it comes to products designed for babies, we believe care should be built in from the very beginning not added on later. That’s why, at phil&teds®, we’re deliberate about the materials we choose and the standards we hold ourselves to. It’s also why our traveller™ travel cot carries Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certification.

Oeko-Tex® is one of the most trusted textile certifications in the world. Rather than blinding you with science, here’s what it really means for parents: the fabrics closest to your baby’s skin have been independently tested and proven to be gentle, safe, and free from harmful substances.

 What is Oeko-Tex® Standard 100?
Introduced in 1992, Oeko-Tex® is the world’s leading textile testing association. The Standard 100 certification focuses specifically on how fabrics perform when they’re in close contact with skin especially sensitive, delicate baby skin.

It doesn’t just test for controlled or potentially harmful substances. It also checks things like colour fastness, so babies are free to dribble, chew and nibble without risk. In Oeko-Tex®’s own words, the testing is:

“Fundamentally based on the respective purpose of the textiles and materials. The more intensive the skin contact of a product and the more sensitive the skin, the stricter the human-ecological requirements that need to be complied with.”

In simple terms:
The closer a fabric is to the skin and the younger the child the higher the standard it must meet. Bedding, sleep surfaces and products intended for children under three undergo the most rigorous testing of all.

Why We Choose It
Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 is trusted worldwide because of the depth of its testing. Laboratory assessments cover around 100 different parameters and include simulation tests that account for all the ways substances could enter the body through skin contact, inhalation or oral exposure.

The certification is independent, continuously updated, and tests well beyond existing legislation. That matters to us. Because when your baby is sleeping, resting or playing, peace of mind should come standard.

Why we chose it for traveller™
The traveller™ 4in1 cot/crib/bassinet/co-sleeper/playpen is designed to be a safe, comfortable sleep space whether you’re at home, away, or on the move. Choosing Oeko-Tex® certified fabrics was a deliberate decision, because the materials closest to your baby should meet the highest possible standards.

It’s one of the many ways we show we care not just about clever design and functionality, but about the wellbeing of the smallest humans using our products.
