Giving Back Is Part of Who We Are!

At phil&teds®, helping others has always been part of our DNA. From the very beginning, we’ve believed that businesses can and should play a role in making the world a little better. Our phil&thropic work reflects that belief, and over the years it has made a meaningful difference to the lives of families and communities around the world.

What follows are a few of the causes and initiatives that form part of our ongoing commitment to community not as campaigns, but as long-term relationships built on care, action and authenticity.

Buggies for Good
Giving back, since 2009
Buggies for Good™ is all about giving back, helping deserving families, communities and organisations to keep on, keepin’ on.

Alongside sample products and seconds stock, we collect pre-loved buggies from our phil&teds® and Mountain Buggy® community around the world. Every buggy receives a full warrant of fitness to ensure it’s in good working order before being rehomed, back into the community, where it can continue to support families and organisations doing good.

Since launching in 2009, Buggies for Good™ has rehomed more than 500 phil&teds® and Mountain Buggy® products. Families and organisations including Australian children’s hospice Bear Cottage, an orphanage in South Africa, and New Zealand’s Ronald McDonald House have been able to support their causes more easily as a result.

& we want to do more.

If you’ve got a buggy that you’d like to give the push or know of an organisation or family we could help, email contact@philandteds.com. From buggy donations to charitable partnerships, we heart helping.

Surgical Research Trust & phil&teddy
At phil&teds®, we align ourselves with organisations that strive to create positive, lasting change. The Surgical Research Trust is one such organisation.

The Trust supports Kiwi researchers by funding medical and surgical research projects, from improving anaesthetic techniques to evaluating paediatric trauma scores. We’re genuinely proud to have supported over $120,000 worth of research through this partnership.

As part of our sponsorship, thousands of phil&teddy bears have been donated to children undergoing surgery in New Zealand hospitals. When you’re in hospital especially as a child having a friendly face can make all the difference. From comfort cuddles to smiles on dials, phil&teddy is there to help make a scary time that little bit more bear able.

As well as being a comforting companion, phil&teddy can be used by doctors as a visual aid when explaining procedures. Each bear comes with an adoption certificate, so children can name their teddy, take it home, and recover together.

Rare Disorders NZ
Supporting community sometimes means opening doors literally.

When our friends at Rare Disorders NZ needed a place to work, we invited them into our Wellington support office, rent free. It was a simple way to help an organisation doing incredibly important work.

There are more than 7,000 known rare disorders, collectively affecting around 350,000 New Zealanders, half of whom are children. Rare Disorders NZ advocates tirelessly for families, patients and healthcare providers, helping connect people with essential information, support networks and policy change.

We’re proud to share space and purpose with a team dedicated to making New Zealand a better place for families living with uncommon health conditions.

Some phil&thropic facts!
Buggies for Good™ marked a decade of giving back in 2019 and continues today.

The durability and robust design of phil&teds® and Mountain Buggy® products have seen buggies used to house oxygen tanks, carry ventilator equipment, and support older children where traditional wheelchairs aren’t always suitable.

The idea for Buggies for Good™ was inspired by airline initiatives where passengers donate spare change to support worthy causes.

Since its establishment in 1992, the Surgical Research Trust has funded more than 90 research projects across areas including paediatrics, diabetes, orthopaedics, and heart, renal and brain disease.
